About Jamell Tate

Jamell Tate is a photographer born and raised in the 9th Ward of New Orleans. He began his career in 2017 by photographing Mardi Gras Indian masking and second lines – both integral parts of the community he was raised in. The artist’s personal lense evokes his close relationship with the culture, and his colorful and vibrant lense captures the true energy that surrounds these traditions, gatherings, and rituals. Jamell is a long-time employee of LeBLANC + SMITH and currently works at The Chloe, where you can find him concocting spirited libations when he’s on the clock, and when he’s not – in the streets shooting authentic and joyful celebrations that make New Orleans what it is.

Artists in Residence at The Chloe

Celebrating the talents and diversity of our creative community has always been central to The Chloe’s mission—from our menus and decor, to curated products by local artisans. As we continue to feature voices that inspire us, we’ve established a monthly artist residency, inviting creatives to join us and host events that celebrate their work. Jamell’s residency closed with a gallery exhibition of 9 newly printed works, now available only at The Chloe.
