Songwriter Series
Alexis & the Sanity, a pop duo hailing from New Orleans, LA, were formally christened in Spring 2023 when their debut single Hind Legs was released online. The band’s sound marries electronic samples, acoustic instruments, and the powerful soprano of frontwoman Alexis Marceaux. Their second single, Invisible Man, came out in August.
Whether you're cozying up on a blanket under the stars or enjoying dinner with friends on the patio, this intimate evening promises to be the perfect date night or group outing. Stay with us post-performance for an exclusive Q&A session with the artists, offering a unique opportunity to engage with them as they share insights into their approach to songwriting.

Artist in Residence: DJ Soul Sister
About DJ Soul Sister
DJ Soul Sister is an internationally-known, veteran DJ artist whose broadcast programs and live performances feature only the music she loves: 1970s – mid-1980s soulful rarities in R&B, funk, disco, jazz, and more from her personal collection of over 10,000 vinyl records.
A native of New Orleans, Soul Sister has volunteered for 30 years with WWOZ FM New Orleans community radio, where she hosts her Soul Power show on Saturday nights. As a performance DJ, she has been playing and promoting her own parties since 1997, and has opened for artists ranging from Questlove to George Clinton & Parliament-Funkadelic. She is the first DJ to win New Orleans' prestigious Big Easy Entertainment Award for "Best DJ," which she received in 2010.
Born Melissa A. Weber in New Orleans, she is also a music historian who has presented her research at academic conferences for the American Musicological Society, Pop Conference, and Society of American Archivists, among others. She teaches a History of Urban Music course for the College of Music and Media at Loyola University New Orleans, and serves as curator of the Hogan Archive of New Orleans Music and New Orleans Jazz, a division of Tulane University Special Collections. Soul Sister's life mission is to share the music, stories, and culture that inspire her, by any means necessary.

ARTIST IN RESIDENCE: The Judy Garlands
In honor of Pride Month, we're proud to present an inspired Artist in Residence with custom decor and stylist experts Grant and Ben, collectively known as The Judy Garlands, whose work you might be familiar with from The Chloe’s Mardi Gras decor. They will be transforming our lounge space into a gallery showcasing photographs and drawings by LGBTQ artists from New Orleans. This installation, celebrating the spirit of New Orleans’ creativity and inclusivity, will run from June 25th to June 30th.

Leslie Pariseau of Patron Saint
About Leslie: Leslie Pariseau is a writer and editor in New Orleans. She's written for The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, GQ, The Intercept, The Ringer, Oxford American, Jacobin, and Condé Nast Traveler among others. A co-founder of and executive producer for creative production studio, Animals & Co., she develops concepts for brands, television, and documentaries, including the Webby nominated “Hella Black” for Facebook and the Clio winning “Tumbleweeds with Killer Mike” for Vice. She has created content and directed editorial for clients such as Estée Lauder Companies, the NBA, HBO, PDQ, Zitti, Bacardi Limited, Pernod-Ricard, Diageo, Constellation Brands, and more.
In 2013, in collaboration with Penguin-Random House, Leslie co-founded PUNCH, an award-winning web magazine about the culture of drinking. PUNCH was acquired by Vox in 2021. She is a former editor for both TASTE and Saveur, and co-author of SPRITZ. A ghostwriter, her most recent book You Owe You by Eric Thomas, is a New York Times, LA Times, and Amazon bestseller. She is a three-time James Beard Award nominee, holds an MFA in fiction from Hunter College, and teaches creative writing workshops on occasion.
Leslie owns Patron Saint, a wine shop + bar, and St. Pizza, a pizzeria + tavern in the Lower Garden District with her husband Tony Biancosino.

Robert will lead a dynamic dialogue about Leslie's journey—from her impactful career in writing and editing to her venture into the world of wine and entrepreneurship in New Orleans.
