The Chloe Brass Pin
The pin measures approximately 1 1/8” across and just over 1” from top to stem.
This custom bronze pin brings together two of the most iconic symbols of New Orleans’ and the greater American South. The palm leaf links Southern culture to the tropical paradise of the Caribbean, with many considering NOLA as the northernmost outpost of island culture. Equally tropical in origin, more than 2 million wild alligators can be found in the swamps, lakes, rivers and bayous of Louisiana—or more locally, gracing the carpeted staircase at The Chloe.
The pin was created in collaboration with Jeff Deegan Designs, known for his bronzework in jewelry, decorative objects and even large-scale sculpture. In addition to being used since 3500 BC for tools and utensils, Deegan is drawn to bronze’s inherent visual qualities that allow each piece to burnish over time into a rich, reddish-brown patina. In short, Deegan describes this emblem of The Chloe as “authentic and classic with a twist—much like the hotel itself.”
